Integrity in Sport at DWA
DWA is pleased to announce its partnership with Sport Integrity Australia and the adoption of the National Integrity Framework and associated integrity policies.
This is an important step in protecting our sport and our members from integrity threats like harassment, bullying, abuse and discrimination.
“Integrity – the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles”
CAMBRIDGE DICTIONARY
Sport is an Australian way of life. It brings people together, transcending differences in language, ability, cultures, and beliefs, and provides physical, social, and economic benefits.
Sport Integrity
Since 2022, DWA has been working with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) to implement the integrity framework and associated policies.
DWA has a part to play in ensuring sport, and its participants and members, are protected from harassment, bullying, abuse, and discrimination.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines integrity as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
Sport is an Australian way of life – it brings people together, transcending differences in language, ability, cultures, and beliefs. It provides physical, social, and economic benefits. We have a responsibility to make sure that sport is safe and equitable for all participants.
Integrity in sports means that athletes and their supporters can participate in, and celebrate sport, confident that they are part of a safe, ethical, and inclusive environment.
At DWA, we take integrity seriously. It is, after all, one of our Values
All our members and staff have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of our sport, as well as the health and wellbeing of our participants.
This is an important part of DWA’s Policies.
Our commitment
As part of our existing policies, DWA already requires our guides to complete relevant state working with vulnerable people checks, as part of the volunteer process.
Without these, our guides cannot volunteer for DWA.
This is a key part of our commitment to SIA’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Member Protection Policy. And these policies reflect our existing commitment to protecting our members, many of whom are regarded as vulnerable people, no matter their age.

What is the National Integrity Framework?
The National Integrity Framework (the Framework) is a suite of policies that take a proactive approach to address integrity threats and provide a safe, fair, and healthy environment for participants at all levels of sport.
